  1. Rule 10 – Options for NPS or Old Pension Scheme:

    • Under Rule 10 of the CCS (Implementation of NPS) Rules, 2021, Central Government employees who are covered under NPS must exercise their option between NPS and the Old Pension Scheme.
    • This option must be exercised at the time of joining government service or in case of events like death during service, invalidating disability, or retirement due to invalidation.
  2. Form 1 – Submission of Option:

  4. Reminder to Ministries/Departments:

    • Despite multiple reminders from the Department, it has been observed that Form 1 and Form 2 have not been submitted by all the eligible employees. Ministries and departments have been instructed to ensure that these forms are collected from all Central Government employees covered under NPS.

Action Steps for Employees:

  • All Central Government employees covered under NPS must fill out Form 1 to indicate their choice of either continuing with NPS or opting for the Old Pension Scheme (CPS/CPEP).
  • In addition, employees must submit their family details in Form 2 to ensure all records are updated for pension-related benefits.

How to Submit the Option Forms:

  • Form 1 (Option form for NPS or Old Pension Scheme) and Form 2 (Family details form) must be submitted to the Head of Office for further processing.
  • Employees should ensure that these forms are submitted within the stipulated time frame as directed by their respective Ministries or Departments.
