RBE No. 99/2024 Overview
The Ministry of Railways has announced an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for Railway employees, effective from July 1, 2024. This revision is detailed in RBE No. 99/2024.

New Rates
- Current DA Rate: 50%
- Revised DA Rate: 53% of Basic Pay
Definition of Basic Pay
In this context, Basic Pay refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed level of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations. It does not include special pay or other types of allowances.
Important Notes
Separate Element of Remuneration: The Dearness Allowance remains a distinct element and will not be considered part of the pay, according to Rule 1303 (FR 9(21)) of the Indian Railway Establishment Code.
Payment Rounding: Any DA payments involving fractions of 50 paise and above will be rounded up to the next higher rupee, while fractions below 50 paise will be disregarded.
Conclusion
This increase in Dearness Allowance aims to assist Railway employees in coping with rising living costs, reflecting the government’s commitment to their welfare.
