đ¨ Important Update: Revision of Dearness Allowance for Central Government Employees

đ New DA Rate Announcement
The Government of India has officially increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees from 50% to 53% of the Basic Pay, effective July 1, 2024.

đŧ Understanding Basic Pay
- Definition: Basic Pay refers to the salary drawn in the prescribed Level of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations.
- Exclusions: This amount does not include any special pay or additional allowances.
đ Key Points to Note
Distinct Element: The Dearness Allowance will remain a separate component of remuneration and will not be classified as part of the pay under FR 9(21).
Rounding Payments: Payments with fractions of 50 paise and above will be rounded up to the nearest rupee, while fractions below 50 paise will be ignored.
đ Applicability Across Departments
- Civilian Employees: These new rates apply to civilian employees funded by the Defence Services Estimates. Expenditures will be charged accordingly.
- Armed Forces and Railways: Separate directives will be issued for Armed Forces personnel and Railway employees by the respective ministries.
đī¸ Consultative Process
For employees in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, these orders were issued in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, in accordance with Article 148(5) of the Constitution of India.
